One Year of LIVE BIG
Introduction
It's hard to believe that a year has flown by since I launched LIVE BIG! What started as a dream fueled by a passion for women's health has blossomed into a thriving business. July 2023 was the month I completed my Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner certification, launched my website, and welcomed my first client. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such inspiring women and to make a positive impact on their lives.
To celebrate this milestone, I want to share some of the most valuable lessons I've learned along the way related to health, life, and business!
Health lessons: You cannot out-supplement stress & little habits add up to big changes
No single supplement can magically erase stress and its symptoms. While supplements may offer some support, addressing the root causes of stress is essential for long-lasting well-being. External factors contribute significantly to stress. Take some time to identify your stressors and develop a plan to mitigate their effects. While addressing internal stressors like chronic infections and dehydration often requires a deeper dive with a functional practitioner.
Don't underestimate the power of small, consistent habits. Practices like journaling, walking, meditation, cold showers, deep breathing, regular workouts, and consistent sleep might seem insignificant, but they collectively contribute to significant improvements in overall health and well-being. These daily rituals have the potential to transform lives, including my own and countless others I've supported on their wellness journeys.
Business lessons: Turn to your community & everything you need can be found online
Transitioning from a corporate world to “solopreneurship” was no walk in the park. Navigating the administrative maze of insurance, taxes, and legal requirements felt overwhelming after years of a structured corporate environment. The initial months were filled with uncertainty and a sense of isolation. Overwhelmed by questions, I sought support within my community. Out of this was born a monthly gathering of female entrepreneurs, to discuss the trials and tribulations that are entrepreneurship and navigate what we call “admin BS”. This experience underscores the power of connection – often, others are seeking the same support you are.
Launching a health coaching business was a steep learning curve. Unlike my corporate experience, I was faced with a myriad of unfamiliar tasks, from banking to business structure. Initially, I felt overwhelmed, but the internet proved to be a valuable resource. However, I realized that starting a business, even in health coaching, may have been new to me but it was not new to the world. I quickly learned almost anything I needed could be found through a quick Google or YouTube search. By leveraging online tools and resources, I was able to navigate the complexities of starting my business.
Launching a business is no easy feat. Navigating the unfamiliar territory of entrepreneurship requires community and resourcefulness.
Life lessons: Let go of perfection & be confident in who you are
Society often molds an unrealistic ideal of perfection in our minds, encompassing everything from body image, relationships, daily routines, and diet, to career success. This pursuit of perfection can be exhausting and unfulfilling. However, I've found true liberation by embracing authenticity and letting go of this unattainable standard. Letting go of this relentless pursuit of the perfect image has allowed me to achieve more, and feel more confident and at ease, while genuinely enjoying my life. Although sometimes I falter, questioning and comparing myself, I am leaps and bounds beyond the woman I used to be. This shift has not only increased my confidence but also deepened my connection to myself and others. A connection I look forward to cultivating for years to come.
Thank you
To all the wonderful women that I have crossed paths with, supported me, and cheered me on….thank you! Your vulnerability and trust in me to guide you have been the greatest gift.
LIVE BIG,
Isabella
